Homebrew Poetry ft. Laurie Eaves, Hannah Gordon & Open Mic

  • 101 Myddleton Road London, England, N22 8NE United Kingdom (map)

Homebrew is a freshly-brewed poetry open mic and feature night at the Hillbilly Social 101, Bounds Green.

Host Laurie Eaves invites you to come share your words on the open mic or just kick back with some lovely food and drink and check out feature sets from some of the UK's best poets.

We're back for a one-off gig on Thursday 23rd of April to celebrate the launch of Laurie's new book Metal Gear Sonnets AND we've got an incredible co-headliner in the wonderful Hannah Gordon!

She is the founder of Word Up’s Words Down writing group and was selected for the inaugural Mid-Career Poets program at the Roundhouse. OPEN MIC

Open mic slots are 5 minutes each. We have a select number of Open Mic tickets available in advance - if you're lucky enough to grab one of these you're guaranteed a slot on the mic. We'll also have a limited number of slots for sign-ups on the night selected at random from the almighty poetry hat!

A QUICK NOTE ON TICKET PRICES

We've always worked to keep Homebrew as affordable as possible, while also making sure we pay our features a decent fee. For all our gigs up to now, we've been absorbing Eventbrite's booking fees for our ticket sales. This means for every £5 ticket we've sold in advance, we've received around £3.70. So far, that's been enough for us to usually pay our features from the ticket sales alone and any extra cash we've made has gone back into the night (buying mic stands, printing, paying for our cups of tea etc.) But with costs rising, we've made the difficult decision to stop absorbing Eventbrite's fees - a booking fee of around £1.13 will now be added to our advanced ticket sales. This will help us make our events more sustainable and we think it still keeps things as affordable as possible for you, our community. Thanks for your understanding.
